(Appears in: Episode 6) Matthew Perry Almost Turned Down 'Friends' For A Show "About Baggage Handlers At The LA Airport In The Year 2194" Following their success with the various "Little Britain" shows, I suppose Lucas and Walliams were bored by repeating the same sorts of characters again and again and again (and again). So, they decided to make "Come Fly With Me" and come up with a whole new set of characters they can do again and again and again (and again). Okay...the show IS repetitious. But it's also extremely funny--well written, wonderfully acted and a lot of fun. Doctor Who viewers go time travelling: 'Astronaut' episode is the most recorded TV show of all time". kantarmediauk.com. 19 May 2011. Archived from the original on 6 September 2012 . Retrieved 16 December 2011. Tommy Reid (Lucas) – A young, obtuse Scottish man working at Happy Burger, one of the airport's fast-food eateries. He hopes to work his way up to becoming a pilot, unaware that the two jobs are completely unrelated.

On paper, for fans of Little Britain, Come Fly With Me couldn't fail. It's the same concept and set up, and even produced by a company named after that show. And it's an inspired idea to send up programmes like Airport that in the 90s were the pioneers for the reality TV craze that dominates British TV these days. It all should work...but somehow this time it doesn't. The potential is all there, golden and shining as it was in LB, but somehow the laughs fail to generate and the result is just something throw away and tragic. Come Fly on the Wall discussed the making of Come Fly with Me with Walliams and Lucas. The programme featured clips from filming, outtakes and interviews with the show's creators as they developed the series. It featured pre production discussions and rehearsals, and showed the actors filming at some of the United Kingdom's busiest airports. It also showed Walliams and Lucas transforming into their new characters in the make up chair, and bringing them to life in front of the camera. Little Britain famously made fun of the disadvantaged and peripheral elements of the UK population: the people that everybody prefers not to see. At the same time it celebrated the English eccentricity in a weird way. We saw the disabled, the flaming queers, the transsexuals, the illegal immigrants, the chavs & council estate skivers as players in the national drama, even if only satirically. That was a first for British telly. The catch, and what made their style of satire acceptable, was that many of these people were not actually what they seemed: Ting Tong was actually a man from Tooting, Andy was actually able bodied, Dafydd was actually a repressed queer-hater, etc., etc.
