Other features of the Free2 Classic earbuds include 6mm bio-compound diaphragm driver for quality sound, works on a Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connection and supports SBC, a Bluetooth codex. It’s not as good as the codec for Mini Pro earbuds, but it works for the price. Mini Pro earbuds also come with dust proof microphones and 7 Hours of single playtime on an initial charge. The earbuds are charged using the supplied USB-C cable. It will take you about 1.5 hours to full charge the Mini Pro earbuds which you will do using the charging case. Clear Pairing: place both earbuds in the charging case and hold both buttons for 10 seconds when the LEDs start flashing red and white twice. This means you have reset the earbuds. No, there is nothing special about them. Except price. These cost less than a dongle, and they have lasted me the better part of the year with zero complaints.

In addition, the extended bass makes these earphones quite fun to listen to, especially when you’re listening to well-recorded dance music. For example, I had a great time listening to Drake’s new album “Honestly, Nevermind” on these buds, as the vocals were very crisp, and the bass was fast and precise, especially for a twentysomething dollar pair of earbuds.

As you can see, there are quite a bit of different functions that can be performed with the touch controls. Unfortunately, we found the touch controls to act up a bit when you’re placing the earbuds within your ears. Naturally, you have to touch the logo area on the exterior of the buds to insert them into your ears. With this, it’s easy to accidently activate certain functions that you wouldn’t necessarily want at that time. It’s not a big deal, but something we think users should be aware of. After weeks of testing these earbuds, we found the sound quality to be good in both. Though you can’t adjust the sound quality with an app in either of these Soundpeats earbuds, you can activate ANC in the Mini Pro which will enhance the sound quality a little more than the Free2 Classic. Both earbuds’ touch controls are sensitive. You really must hold the earbud for more than the allotted time to activate the control. For instance, you are supposed to touch the right earbud for 1.5 seconds to move to the next song. We had to hold our finger on the earbud for more than 2 seconds before the song changed. It’s not a big deal but you need to learn how the touch controls work before you start using the earbuds. If not, you will get frustrating using them especially when out for a run or walk.

SoundPEATS have decided to go with the touch controls for all of the functionality. All you need to do is tap the logo area of the earbuds and they are very touch-sensitive. It may take someone who is new to touch controls a few days to learn how to bring up each control but soon you will master it. Good" enough sound has ensured I never reach for the Kato outside of the house. I ONLY use these on commutes or at the gym. Kato has been downgraded to an at-home set only. Using the Free2 Classic wireless earbuds for making or receiving a phone call is easy. Tapping either earbud two times will answer an incoming call and automatically pause your music at the same time. The audio quality is acceptable, capable of transmitting clear voice without any noticeable distortion. We tested calls in three seperate instances and each time we had no complaints in regards to the audio quality or wireless transmission. Wireless earbuds are commonplace now, largely thanks to the introduction of the Apple Air Pods (their last actually good innovation?), and I’ve had the pleasure of testing a few sets out over the past couple of years. Now, it’s the turn of the SoundPEATS Free2 Classic. While I am a big shill for these as a commute pair, that's where I draw the line. They are good enough for a Zoom call, with mics that just barely do the job. The charging case has no remaining power. The case can’t turn off the earbuds if the case battery is dead.

Upon their arrival, we were quite excited to open the SoundPEATS Free2 Classic and get right into listening. However, we first wanted to take note on everything that’s in the box. The earbuds come shipped within their portable charging case with a few notable accessories. First, you get a short USB-C to USB-A charging cable. It’s long enough to charge, but awfully short; not too big of deal, but worth pointing out. Next, you get a larger and smaller size set of silicone eartips. These are used to swap-out the medium-sized tips that come pre-installed. Lastly, a user guide is included. It’s multi-lingual and contains a few tips and instructions on pairing, controlling and wearing the earbuds. The sound quality for phone calls on both earbuds was good, and the dust proof mic worked. The Mini Pro had a slightly better phone call experience since it has ANC.

If you’ve been on the hunt for a pair of affordable wireless earbuds, you likely have come across SoundPEATS. Best known for their affordable audio products, they’ve been busy creating their new releases for 2022. Recently, we had the pleasure of testing and reviewing their new Mini Pro wireless earbuds. Simply put, we fell in love with them. Ultimately, they offered the right blend of sound quality and comfort, all within a reasonable price-point. That said, while it’s noticeable, it didn’t impact usability, and by the way, you can use the buds together or each one on its own.
