Description

Because the size and capabilities of the Ender 3 and Ender 5 differ, you will need to make sure that the modification you’re getting applies to your machine. There’s nothing worse than putting together an auto-leveler only to realize it’s the wrong size. However, the correct print speed also depends on the material used. Cura sets the Ender 5 to 80 mm/s by default. For very fine prints and also for different materials this can be too fast. Normally PLA is printed between 40 and 80 mm/s. For functional parts, it is recommended to choose a fast speed and for decorative parts a slower speed. With the printing plates of the Ender 5 models, you usually only need a skirt to stimulate the filament flow with a few printed lines around the printed object.

With manual leveling you adjust the inclination of the print bed with a piece of paper. For this purpose, there are rotary screws under the print bed. With the screws, you adjust the distance between the nozzle and the print bed in several places on the print bed so that you can move the piece of paper with some friction between nozzle and print bed. The printer has nearly a dozen cables that power and control the motors, extruder, and end stops, and they have to be attached to the proper connectors. Creality does well in labeling both the cables and connectors. Most of the components are at the top of the printer with the motherboard and power supply are at the bottom, so you must take care to keep the long cables out of the way (mostly at the rear or on the side). The printer comes with zip ties for this purpose. The result of the detailed comparison between the Ender-5 S1 and the Ender-5 Pro is that the Ender-5 S1 is better in just about everything.

Testing the Ender-5 Pro: Above-Par Print Quality

The filling density, or the infill, determines how much material is inside the 3D print. This allows you to adjust the stability to your purposes. These settings do not depend on the 3D printer you use, only on your components. Brims and rafts print an area of filament on the outside or under the print object. This increases the surface and adhesion. However, these two options are only necessary for extreme cases and have the disadvantage that you have to remove this auxiliary construction from the print object after printing. The inclusion of a BLTouch bed leveling probe on the Ender 5 Plus is a genuine boon. The implementation caused quite a few issues when the printer launched, covering only ⅔ of the printer’s build plate due to a firmware issue.

It’s a convenient and affordable option if building your own sounds like a frustrating DIY nightmare, but it’s also one of the more versatile options out there. This comes mainly from the fact that the Official Creality Enclosure is designed as a tent that sits over the Ender 5. If you’re printing an object and you’re uncertain if you have enough filament left on the spool, you don’t have to worry about that with a filament sensor because you can easily add more. Without a filament sensor like the Ender-5 Pro, you need to be certain you have enough filament for your project. The downside? The edge cuts do have minor gaps, which can let the occasional gust of cool air in, but at this price, this is more a quirk than a major issue.Creality earned its fame by having fully open-source hardware and firmware, even making their full specs available to anyone who wants them. Both official and non-official upgrades and modifications are all over the internet for both models.

Alongside, it also ships with Creality’s new proprietary Sprite full metal dual-gear direct drive extruder system that helps minimize common flexible printing issues like poor retraction, jams and clogs in the PTFE tubing, while also improving filament control and feeding. Print Bed If you are printing objects that are primarily for decorative purposes, you can print with an infill of 5-10%. Removing a panel to peak in allows the hot air to escape, potentially ruining the print. To counteract this, you can carve out a hole in the front mat, then insert a plexiglass window, although this does up the cost a little. The pattern for the filling is also important. In Cura you have the choice between different patterns that differ in their stability.
