Description

Both do a job and give a home to brush heads, but the 9000 is a neater and more desirable solution. The 3D action on our Oral-B electric toothbrushes means that they oscillate, rotate and pulsate to give you the best possible cleaning, removing up to 300% more plaque along the gum line than a regular toothbrush. It works by pulsating to break up the plaque, and then oscillating and rotating to sweep the plaque away. Aside from the colour of the brush the physical size and shape are identical and you would not be able to tell the two apart unless you noticed the additional cleaning mode icon found on the 9000.

Sometimes toothpaste can build up under the brush head and solidify to quite a tight bond. Then, when the brush head is ready to be replaced, it can break when removing it to leave this piece behind. To prevent this, we recommend the cleaning and maintenance routine noted in the manual. In my hands-on testing I achieved a little over 10 days with the 1000, but a whole 3 extra days with the 2000. A smaller, but relevant difference relating to the cleaning modes is that the motor in the Pro 2 2000 is a bit more powerful and actually offers more movements than the Pro 600. Another slight difference is the 9000’s lovely travel case has a clip built into the lid that holds a smartphone, for using the app when travelling.ThePro 600 offers 8,800 oscillations and 20,0000 pulsations whilst the 2000 offers 9,900oscillations and 45,000 pulsations. Oral-B iO™ with revolutionary iO™ technology is the latest Oral-B electric toothbrush. After six years of research and over 250 patents, Oral-B iO™ sets the new standard of brushing performance, experience, and design. Experience a deep but uniquely gentle clean with a new frictionless magnetic drive. It directs all energy to the bristles to generate new micro-vibrations. The result is Oral-B’s best ever clean: 6x more effective plaque removal along the gumline for 100% healthier gums in one week.** The actual process of brushing your teeth is extremely easy. There’s an app to help you get the maximum effect from your toothbrush, and a holder to attach your smartphone to the bathroom wall is included. But even without the app, the Oral B Genius 10000N provides a clear guide to brushing your teeth. A white light shines during use, which changes to red immediately if you press too hard. Flashing lights and audio signals indicate when it's time to change to the other side of your mouth. The on/off button is easy to use, as are the buttons to change between the six different brushing modes. Smaller and less unsightly, it is designed to sit on a worktop rather than adhere to a wall or mirror. You just need to pop your phone in it, which takes a couple of seconds compared to the tens of seconds with the Genius brush configuration. You phone then sits in portrait or landscape orientation and shows the on-screen timer. The Oral-B Pro 1000 is a reliable and affordable electric toothbrush. Its features include angled CrossAction bristles, oscillating pulsating cleaning action, and a pressure sensor for comfortable brushing.

Any of our toothbrush heads will give you a great clean, and which is best for you depends upon your personal requirements and preferences. I’ve popped some information below about each of the brush heads that are featured with the models you’ve mentioned and I hope this helps you to decide which might be the most suitable for you. A timer makes sure you brush your teeth for the recommended two minutes and indicates when it’s time to move onto the next part of your mouth. The toothbrush also reminds you when it’s time to change the head, which is useful if you’re the kind of person who tends to forget to do it as often as you should. For optimal results, we recommend you change your brush head every 3 months, after you have been ill or when the bristles become worn. The Oral-B Pro 1000 made me feel like I had just come from the dentist. The angled, CrossAction bristles and oscillating, pulsating cleaning action effectively scrubbed plaque away. You get the standard features like the 2 minute timer, 30 second pacer, rechargeable battery and fading indicator bristles on the brush head.If you’re not interested in gadgets, the Oral-B Genius 9000 also has plenty of practical properties to justify its hefty price tag. The brush has a number of different programmes which you can easily cycle through by simply pressing a button. The most useful modes are the ones for normal brushing and for cleaning between teeth. We felt that the modes for polishing and brushing the tongue didn’t have as noticeable an effect. Combined with its cleaning ability and features, this makes the Pro 1000 a great value for the money. 5. Ease of Use

All system components (e.g., toothbrush handle, charger, power cord, SmartGuide). You do not need to include accessories like the brush heads or refill stand. Hopefully, this gives you a good overview of where various brushes fit in in terms of price and features, but if not please leave a comment or question. There are a number of differences in the techniques used by these electric toothbrushes. Oral-B toothbrushes pulse and rotate in an oscillating movement, while Philips toothbrushes vibrate in a sonic, pulsing movement which stimulates the saliva. The brushing feel is different and which you prefer will be a personal choice. Both techniques are gentle and effective at removing plaque and bacterial film, producing a cleaner and fresher feeling in the mouth than a manual toothbrush. To access this additional mode, you have to press the power button an extra time each time you use the toothbrush. The Pro 2 defaults to the daily clean mode.

How we did the test

Below, is a list of models we have compared to one another, plus some that we have compared to their Sonicare equivalents.

Despite both brushes coming with multiple brush heads, the travel cases provided with each brush are capable of holding the brush handle and 2 heads only. iO Gentle Care: the gentlest iO Refill for a smooth brushing experience. Cushioning outer ring with thinner filaments to protect gums, high density of extra soft bristles for a gentle cleanGUM Sonic Daily looks like a regular toothbrush and runs for up to three months on a standard AAA battery. Brushing cannot fully compete with the more conventional electric toothbrushes, yet it is an affordable entry-level model for anyone who wants to update their manual toothbrush. Gentle brush head and long battery life Both brushes offer Bluetooth connectivity, which means that they connect to an Android or iOS smartphone via an app. It’s a bit of a hassle as you need to stand almost perfectly still in front of your camera and a smartphone holder like this is not what most of us want in a bathroom. I am confident that the Genius X motor is more powerful. I think the Pro 5000 you might have has something in the region of 8,800 oscillations and either 20,000 or 40,000 pulsations. With only a couple of slight differences between these two models, the Pro 3 3000 is the more premium and expensive of the two. But it doesn’t make it the one to go for.
