About this deal

The #1 New York Times-bestselling author's terrifying next thriller about one man's ice-cold malice, and one woman's fight to reclaim her life. Identity starts in Baltimore where Morgan Albright is a master bartender. She meets a charming man named Luke and begins to date him. Before we know it, Morgan's roommate is found dead in their house and Luke has disappeared. Luke is determined to be a conman named Gavin who is out for women just like Morgan. Also, I loved that our heroine worked as bartender/manager of a bar, another part of the book that was really well researched and put to paper.

I couldn't help but cheer for Morgan, with her upbeat attitude and relentless pursuit of her dreams. Her interactions within the generational household she found herself in showcased the strong bonds and love between the women, providing heartfelt and entertaining dialogue. This plot is addicting! Identity is unique and highly detailed, plus she ties in plenty of surprises that completely had me captivated. Things move forward nicely in the last hour or from chapter 30 onward. It's a little comical that the bad guy has drastically changed from who they were in the beginning. Wish as a whole it was mostly exciting as the last part. Hopefully, I'll enjoy her next novel more. 2.5⭐ This is an intense story. The author gives us plenty of breaks to show us how Morgan’s new life is shaping up—then brings Gavin in again just to let us know he’s still on the hunt and things aren’t as rosy as we want to believe. THE STORY: Former Army brat Morgan Albright has found stability in a friendly neighborhood near Baltimore. With the help of her roommate Nina and her job as a bartender, Morgan is making ends meet. However, their lives take a horrifying turn when Luke, a charming IT guy Morgan met at the bar, attends their dinner party. The house is robbed, Nina is murdered, and Morgan's car is stolen. Morgan soon learns that Luke is actually a con artist named Gavin, who targets women, steals their assets and identities, and ultimately kills them. Devastated, Morgan is forced to flee to her mother's home in Vermont. She meets Miles, a genuine and unassuming man, who provides some solace as she tries to rebuild her life. Meanwhile, Gavin continues his hunt for new victims, and Morgan lives in constant fear that she is the victim Gavin is hunting.Identity by Nora Roberts is an absolutely phenomenal book, with multiple layers to it that take you from chilling to heartwarming and everything in between. The #1 New York Times-bestselling author's terrifying new thriller about one man's ice-cold malice, and one woman's fight to reclaim her life. Family love and support play an important role in this novel, on both sides. I loved Morgan’s mother and grandmother (her “ladies”), and appreciated how Morgan’s mother is also a skilled and creative business woman, much stronger, more competent, and happier than Morgan’s memory of her. While Morgan loves her mom, there’s initially a distance there; it was heartwarming to watch them become closer. Part of Morgan’s growth in the novel comes from accepting and trusting in the love and support of her mother and grandmother, and from her growing appreciation for the strong women they are.

It would be a nightmare to have your identity stolen and all the complications that follow are just awful as well.Soon, a horrific truth emerges: It was Morgan who let the monster in. "Luke" is actually a cold-hearted con artist named Gavin who targets a particular type of woman, steals her assets and identity, and then commits his ultimate goal: murder. There was too much detail in hospitality and bartending. I admit it's interesting, not everyone wants to read a FMC as a writer, author, or editor all the time so this is welcome but I don't think I care enough about every little detail, and makes the pacing terrible. But you may like it more. Things go sideways early on when a cold-blooded man crosses her path and creates chaos. Serial killer on the loose!! This made the book a perfect blend of fluff and suspense. I just love this book! It is subtle and at times intense. Roberts builds tough resilient characters along with some wonderful family connections. I think this is a winner all around with the multiple aspects of romance, family, suspense, and crime tension. I could go on and on, but definitely put this one on your list! She relocates to Vermont, where her mother and grandmother live. She starts over. But Luke is not done yet. Morgan is the one who got away…

Nora. Roberts. She does it again. Her books I like to sprinkle in my reading here and there and this one didn’t read like a regular NR book. It just felt different. I loved every part of it. You feel for Morgan and the horrific turn of events known as her life. Her and Nina’s friendship was idealistic. You really feel for Morgan after what happens—it’s an absolute travesty but at least she has a huge family house in Vermont that she can go off to and not worry about paying the utilities. The Sunday Timesbestselling author’s terrifying new thriller about one man’s ice-cold malice, and one woman’s quest to reclaim her life. OPINION: This book had me completely immersed in its captivating and suspenseful narrative. From the very beginning, the story drew me in, introducing me to the resilient and determined heroine, Morgan, and the dangers that surrounded her. While the pacing might not be as fast-paced as some romantic suspense novels, Roberts masterfully built suspense throughout, keeping me on the edge of my seat. Morgan learns from the FBI that the man she knew as Luke, was not, but is a serial con artist, thief, and murderer. Morgan moves home to Vermont to live with her grandmother and mother as she begins to rebuild her life. Her new job introduces her to an interesting new man who helps her enjoy herself again as they build their relationship, but there are messages sent to her from all over the country reminding her that she will not get away forever.Big thanks to Nora Roberts, St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions. This book contains mature content and may not be suitable for younger readers. A resiliant heroine, a steadfast hero… and a chilling villain
