Bumfuzzle is the story of a couple's journey around the world in a catamaran (for which the book is named). We've all had that conversation—with ourselves or our significant other—the one about what to do with our life. We were in constant need of help and advice and the people from the sailing community always seemed very kind and charitable to me. And one of the things we were busy with was putting a new cover together for Bumfuzzle — Just Out Looking for Pirates.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. They have taken a lot of flack from the boating community, which considers their undertaking to be nothing short of reckless and their sucess gets attributed, I'm sure, to dum luck. A quick-thinking, rapid fire game which will twist your tongue and make you second guess your every move, this card game of Bumfuzzle is fast-paced and full of fun. Examples include at one point the author was wishing he had davots for his dingy and a bit later he is talking about fixing the cracks in his davots.

Yes, many criticize the authors for their lack of experience however their commitment to the journey is wonderful and sticks with you for a long time. They were young, and by any measure successful, but they were bored and getting a little soft around the middle.

The oldest player goes first, turning over the card from the top of their pile, without looking, and placing it face up in the middle of the table.

Put your brain to the test against your family and friends to find out who can keep their cool in this laugh out loud game! The card game is compact in size and makes a great travel companion for friends and family who get restless during long journeys. Reading about a couple sailing around the world with no prior experience would at least be good for a chuckle, right?

Like I said in the intro, I would have liked to have seen more about the actual countries these two visited. This is a great book and an opportunity to experience exactly what Ali and Pat experienced, and to take a virtual realistic trip around the world.

This uproarious social card game introduces players to a kaleidoscopic world of colours and words, challenging their wit and cunning with a riotous fusion of confusion. I did this, and then I went there and did that, and after that I did this, and I don’t like sailing, then we went there and did this; I don’t like cruisers either, then we went here, and I don’t like sailing, then we did that, did we mention that we don’t like cruisers? So the two of them sold almost all of their worldly possessions, purchased a catamaran (a double-hulled sailing ship) they named the "Bumfuzzle," and set off to sail around the world with only a few hours of sailing experience under their belts. The company are being extremely unhelpful and demanding all kinds of photographic and video evidence of the fault, presumably to avoid having to give a refund.

I must confess that it was the title that drew me to this book but I really enjoyed these sailing adventures. The stories he does share about the places they visited and the people they met are fascinating, however, especially since Patrick and his wife visited quite a few countries that most people don't think twice about. The brain is the most complex object known to man, but sometimes it can become hopelessly confused by what seems like the simplest things.

The card in play determines what all players must do - say the colour of the word, read the word or stand up. It is expensive, it is time consuming, it takes some mechanical ability and it is considered dangerous.
