I’m not a huge romance reader but I picked this one up because I loved the concept and the fact that it even apparently includes the recipes for each of the meals. She takes an anthropological interest in family, friends and life in her West Sussex village (think, The Archers crossed with Twin Peaks) where she lives with her husband, children and various other pets. Una coincidenza del destino che l'ultimo nome pronunciato dalla nonna in punto di morte fosse Ned Martland e che la casa di cui deve tenere conto appartenga ad una antica famiglia di Martland? Forced to sleep under the same roof as her handsome neighbour Finn, Freya realises she's going to need a distraction—fast!

A real treat to revisit the residents, both new and old, of Portneath and Middlemass over the twelve days of Christmas. However, if you need a little more substance Alexander has written a holiday read filled with complex and real life issues. My only question is why she ever wanted to work for the Gordon Ramsey-esque Andre in the first place! Some of the collected data includes the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously. One slight problem that I did have with the book was with the tenses, a couple of times it seemed that Holly's narration changed from the past tense to the present tense. It’s not a visit made in happy circumstances though, as Freya is there following the death of her mother.

Holly é uma chefe conceituada que durante o Inverno cuida da casa dos outros quando estes estão ausentes. I understand I can change my preference through my account settings or unsubscribe directly from any marketing communications at any time.I'd got a third of the way through and was despairing at the lack of action, but I persevered and thankfully my loyalty paid off, as the story became more intriguing, to the point that it became hard to put down by the final chapters. She claims to have once actually eaten Bronte burgers at the Branwell café, but her publisher declines to verify this. Everyone knows the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’, but not as rewritten by John Julius Norwich in this delightful correspondence, which records the daily thank-you letters from one increasingly bemused young lady to her unseen admirer. I love the older characters in the book and the special bonds they have with the younger generations and the ease each has between each other.

This is a very sweet and heart warming romance, set in that hinterland between Christmas snd Twelfth Night. All these people help Freya learn lots of life lessons and help make this book such a lovely, engaging and engrossing read. Excuse me now while I hide in the bathroom sucking my thumb for a while 😏and wait for a new hopefully better new year. She’s home to arrange her mother’s funeral, having walked away from her life as a promising but under-recognised chef in Paris – finding her former home cold, dark and sadly neglected, filled with regrets that she didn’t spend more time with her mother in the years before her death. She lives in the vibrant city of Bristol with her partner and their ancient black cat Katsu and works from her cosy, cluttered desk in a shared studio down the road. And the fact that Holly describes everything she does in detail made me feel so much more immersed in her world.

It reads more like Holly's diary than anything else, which really worked for me this time around, so I have no idea what my issue was with it the first time. This was my first time reading a Trisha Ashley book and I wasn’t disappointed, I have wanted to read this for a while now after hearing such fantastic reviews and that people often read this every Christmas as a yearly tradition and it was one tradition I wanted to get in on! Freya was a fancy chef and created a multitude of delectable delights, but there was plenty of competition from Finn with all his farm fresh food.
