Description

When a child asks for forgiveness, and even if they don’t ask for it, a mother forgives them and leaves the mistake in the past as if it had never happened. We need more words to validate what mothers are doing, especially as they start to relate to their babies, and then as they continue relating totheir growing children, for the rest of their lives. This means the book feels a bit like being a fly on the wall at one of their meetings, which is really helpful when many new mothers don’t have opportunities to talk about their experience with other mothers. She shames them for their choice of career, partner, friends, lifestyle, their manner of dress, their personality, their preferences – all of these and more come under the scrutiny of the narcissistic mother. Emotional legacy: You will have the ability and insight to appreciate that other people, colleagues and family members have their own perspectives.

Mothers Emotionally Abuse Their Children 8 Ways Narcissistic Mothers Emotionally Abuse Their Children

this book not only hit upon many thoughts i had been having, it hit on upon thoughts i hadn't even begun to think. First, the author made generalizations about how a mother should or is expected to feel toward her child without giving much allowance to mothers who may feel differently. If the narcissistic mother has histrionic tendencies, she may even seduce the friends of her children to demonstrate her superiority over her younger competition. She brags about how little Timmy always gets straight As and how her darling Stacy is the prettiest little girl in town. On top of that, they still wash the dishes, wash your clothes, iron your clothes, pay bills and do everything else.

Also, I see a mother’s role as unique, not interchangeable with a father’s, and one that needs to be better understood. Because every family situation is unique, there cannot be one single blueprint for being a good mother. Apart from those times, they’ve always put up with our antics… especially with how we don’t bother cleaning our room every single day. The book, for the most part, would apply to fathers, too--especially those who stay home with their babies (as my husband did for a year).

20 Amazing Things Every Mom Does for Her Kids - You are Mom

She might enter their rooms without knocking, read their diaries, and interrogate them constantly about their friends or romantic partners. You go off to school early in the morning and come home late at night, she barely has time to bond with you. I found the goal of this book--to articulate what mothers do when it may appear to outsiders that they do little to nothing--very admirable and largely well-done. Emotionally balanced, she can see her children as individuals and help them achieve their own independence. The study also found that mums take their role very seriously – a third of those polled described themselves as overprotective of their children. You’ll observe that she achieves a balance and proportion in the arrangement of things that only a mathematical equation can unravel. The author describes the way a mother might notice something seems wrong with her baby and spend time carefully considering what might be wrong.
