Hopper extender: An extension that can add 9 oz. of capacity to the existing 8 oz. bean hopper. Several extenders can be added to get to the capacity you need. Finding the right grinder when you start your craft coffee journey can be mind-boggling – there’s so much choice and some great products on the market. You’ll likely want to cover all bases and be able to explore different brews and flavours. So you need a grinder that’s up to the job. The 54mm dosing cup (and included 58mm adapter ring) make it easy to transfer grounds directly into a portafilter for less mess and an even distribution that's ready to tamp! Fits most home espresso machine portafilter baskets. BURRS

The Encore is lauded by coffee experts as THE go-to entry level grinder for those brewing coffee at home. The Encore gives a great grind for drip/manual brew and also grinds fine enough for espresso but will offer less control than more expensive grinders like the Virtuoso. The main idea behind the design is that the wing nut will slow down the feeding of beans to avoid stalling the motor. This makes sense if you’re runnning the device with a huge hopper full of beans. But most people reading this in 2022 are probably using the Encore for single-dosing. So if that’s your workflow, then just try and unscrew the wing nut. Beyond a great coffee-drinking experience, the Encore makes for a great coffee-making experience. A convenient, front-mounted pulse button makes it easy to grind on demand into your brew basket. Whether you are looking for an espresso grinder or a grinder to help you explore that extensive range of brew methods, the Encore is a great all around home grinder. For my testing, I borrowed a lovely, sturdy, Diletta Mio espresso machine from the good folks at Seattle Coffee Gear. Not only did the Mio class up my countertop, but using it meant I could treat its consistent performance like a fixed variable in my testing, allowing me to give all my attention to the grinder.

About Baratza Encore

The Baratza “Encore” offers as many as 40 coffee grinding levels, ranging from extremely fine to coarse. It’s extremely flexible and the coffee ground by it can be used for a French Press and a variety of other coffee brewing methods, such as the Chemex, Aeropress, dripper or a siphon. The grinder is equipped with conical burrs made of hardened steel. As mentioned before, the Encore is an entry-level burr grinder, but that doesn’t prevent it from delivering strong performance and durability. I don't know if I'm on step 15," said Olympia co-owner Sam Schroeder, who was twisting the hopper to adjust grind size. "That's really sloppy." The coffee grinder Baratza “Encore” is lauded by coffee experts as the best solution for those who wish to brew excellent coffee at home. The body of the grinder has a minimalist design – it’s very compact and the materials used are fingerprint-proof. It’s an on-demand grinder, therefore the grounds are placed in a container or flask before making the brew. The grinding process is started by using the pulse button that allows you to manually control the quantity of the ground coffee. The Baratza “Encore” also has an on/off switch.

Aside from the steel burrs, the Encore’s internal parts are mostly made out of plastic. The gears, however, are made of 15% glass-filled thermoplastic, which makes them more durable. The Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder has it covered. Lauded by coffee experts as THE go-to entry level grinder for home brewing, the Encore has 40 individual grind settings, from fine to coarse (250 to 1200 microns). So whether your brew of choice is the French Press or the espresso, the Baratza Encore provides consistent grinds for both – and everything in between – giving you the chance to experiment and explore your taste preference. The Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder Is Compact and convenient Esatto: An accessory that transforms your Encore into a grind by weight grinder. Set the weight you want, the Esatto does the rest, weighing the ground coffee to within +/- 0.2g, while grinding, and stopping automatically. Messy: It makes a bit of a mess when the grounds bin is removed because of static electricity building up.The Baratza Encore uses a combination of gear and electronic speed reduction to control the rotation of the burr between 405 to 495 RPM. This slow speed reduces heat, noise, and static generation in the grinder and ensures beans feed smoothly into the burrs. Quality parts you can trust Basic: There aren’t any “convenience” features such as dose controls or timers, which isn’t a surprise since the Encore is the most basic model from Baratza. This could give you a more sludgy French press," she said, with what may have been a note of disappointment in her voice, "but it's also a more forgiving method." And, of course, the Encore is built with the quality Baratza parts you've come to trust. The efficient DC motor keeps your beans cool, even during extended grind times, while a combination of electric and gear speed reducers slow the burr to 450 RPM, ensuring a smooth bean feed and reducing noise, heat and static buildup. Speed Control: With unique speed control, the Encore uses a combination of gear and electronic speed reduction to control the rotation of the burr to 450 RPM. The electronic speed controller is adjustable from 405 to 495 RPM in the event that specific user conditions require modification of the speed. This slow speed reduces heat, noise, and static generation in the grinder. It also ensures that the beans feed smoothly into the burrs.

You may find it difficult using the Encore if you use coffee beans that are larger than average. Bigger beans don’t feed through the hopper as well as regular-sized beans, which could result in some loose beans left over. Build Quality Reyna took it from there as we explored the coarse-grind capabilities. She started making pour-over in a Kalita Wave, one batch based on grind size 28, one on 25, lauding its grind speed as she went. On grind size 20, she pronounced that this would be the one, and it turned out to make a damn fine cup.Overall, the grounds look better than anything else at this price range. You will have to either look to a manual grinder or drop a lot of extra money, if you want to go a significant step up in consistency. Compared to Baratza’s older Maestro models, the Encore device has an improved gearbox for quieter operation and a sturdier design.
