Our recommendation is to try the Blair Athol 1993. Or, why not give a chance to the Blair Athol 2008. The Visitors’ Centre The distillery was founded in 1798 by John Steward and Robert Robertson, [3] originally named 'Aldour', This Highland distillery is situated in Pitlochry which is more like the gateways to the other highland areas of Scotland. The Bell’s Blend, one of the most consumed and loved whisky brands in all of South Africa, UK and Scandinavia are proudly owned by Blair Athol. Their single malt whiskey is flavoured and with a pleasing aroma. Some drinks are around 12 years old in maturation.

Blair Castle is fortunate to have one of the best archives of any historic house in Scotland and it’s been wonderful to see the story of these fabulous bottles come to life in the archives. Whisky has always been a huge part of the history of Blair Castle and we will be building an exhibition around the bottles we keep after the auction”. Blair Athol (pronounced: blair ATH-ol) is a quiet yet beautiful distillery that has modestly been producing a robust highland distillate for a lot longer than most currently operation distilleries. Founded in 1798 it has always been one of the more ˜under the radar distilleries but anyone who has had the privilege of visiting it is usually bowled over by its old-style Scottish architectural beauty, not to mention the muscular elegance of its spirit. Blair Athol’s visitors’ centre was constructed in 1987 and proudly entertains more than 80,000 tourists annually. A tour of this facility will show you how the dedicated distillers make malt whisky with locally obtained resources while you’re enjoying a taste from your dram. Getting to Blair Athol by Road Get to Perth-Inverness road via the A9 dual carriageway and alight at the junction where you’d see a signpost that bears the direction of Pitlochry. Travel left and get under the flyover onto the A924 which leads directly to Pitlochry. Just one mile after exiting the dual carriageway, turn to your right and there lies the distillery. BP filling station is on the right. Train

The distillery was believed to have been founded by two men in 1798; John Stewart and Robert Robertson. They originally named it ‘Aldour’ derived from Scottish ‘Allt Dour’ signifying the ‘burn of the otter.’ The initial years of existence of the distillery were a failure and it was mothballed.

When it comes to accommodation in Scotland, there's a fantastic choice of amazing stays from luxury hotels to glamping getaways.By the 1970s, Bell’s was being built into the UK’s top-selling blended Scotch and, as a result, Blair Athol was doubled in capacity. Guinness (which bought Bell’s in 1985, and after further mergers evolved into Diageo) opened a visitor’s centre in 1987.
