Did you notice, we have already made a sub-list of fourty variations of sky blue colors? Water Is Blue Too – Aqua Blue Colors With HEX Codes Very close in color to a true cyan blue, Aqua Blue is just a little bit brighter. This color is often associated with swimming pools, beach parties, and other water-themed or aquatic influences due to its bright, cheerful tone and vivid summertime hues. Munsell Blue is named after Albert Henry Munsell, an artist, inventor, and teacher who developed an early system for classifying colors. Although the Pantone system is more widely used today, Munsell Blue bears its name in honor of this early pioneer. The blue light that gives the sky its colour, is sufficiently bright to make all the stars that we see at night disappear since the light they emit is much dimmer. Why does the blue fade towards the horizon?

But that’s not the end! Sky blue is obviously too generic term, so more detailed names came in the list of blue colors. Light sky blue is one of them and it seems it comes in at least five shades with the same name as well: Slowly but steady, the Egyptians spread their beautiful blue dyes throughout the world, passing them on to the Persians, Mesoamericans, and Romans. Note that the blue of the sky is more saturated when you look further from the sun. The almost white scattering near the sun can be attributed to Mie scattering, which is not very wavelength dependent. The colors of the Chelsea Football Club are red, gold, and blue. The specific shade of blue used by the club is a little closer to a dark blue than true blue, but it’s not quite dark enough to be considered a navy blue. Let’s digress from the materials for a moment or two: one of the colors above (Phthalo Blue) is actually commercially known by many different names: Helio Blue, Monastral Blue, Thalo Blue, Winsor Blue and also British Rail Blue. It’s known by it’s chemistry names and abbreviations Copper Tetrabenzoporphyrazine, C.I. Copper Phthalocyanine Blue, Cu-Phthalo Blue, Phthalocyanine Blue or simply CuPc. Thanks to its light fastness, opacity, spreading capacity, stability (resistance to acids and alkalies) and brilliant hue it is widely used in dyes and paints.Teal is a blue-green color that derives its name from the common teal bird. Teal also happens to be the official color of ovarian cancer awareness. Blue is used to express and emphasize authority for many centuries. It is no coincidence police uniforms are so often blue or mainly of blue color. Its effect on human psychology is in most cases calming and ancient culture associated it heaven and gods. The reason is obvious: while blue is not so widespread in nature as some other colors, it dominates sky and water, two major elements in nature, both closely associated with divinity. Asian J Behav Stud. 2018;3(13):149-160. doi:10.21834/ajbes.v3i13.152 Did you know word azur comes from the very same root as Spanish azul, which is just short from ‘lapis azuli’? Lapis azuli is of course precious stone and we’ll come to that too! Let’s stay at shades of sky for now. When, for instance, the sun goes down, color of the sky changes and that inspired next set of variations: Nave, R. "Blue Sky." Georgia State University Physics and Astronomy: Hyperphysics. Liberty Blue, much like Independence Blue, is a deep blue color with cold undertones and an almost steely finish. Liberty Blue, however, is most often used to decorate plates, cups, and other decorative earthenware for a stark blue and white finished product. Most people do not have blue eyes, blue flowers do not occur naturally (other pigments and plant minerals combine with light to create the color you see as “blue”), and blue animals are quite rare. The sky is blue—or is it? Like energy passing through the ocean, light energy travels in waves, too. Some light travels in short, "choppy" waves. Other light travels in long, lazy waves. Blue light waves are shorter than red light waves.

Carolina blue is a shade of blue that is used as the official school colors of the University of North Carolina, a place where Carolina blue is also referred to as Tar Heel blue. Pantone TPX Pantone Color Finder—Type the words "Silver Lake Blue" into the indicated window on the Pantone Color Finder and the color will appear: With its pale icy tone and muted blue shades, the coolly soothing Arctic Blue draws its inspiration from the icy waters of the Arctic circle, as well as the bright white reflections of the snow and ice that float upon those same waters.

Named after the dazzling skies and seas that surround the island of Capri off the coast of southern Italy, Capri Blue is a bright, brilliant blue that has an almost jewel-toned glow to it. It’s vivid, cheerful, and leaves you longing for the open seas. Turquoise is a color that is related to the gemstone of the same name. Turquoise also has many different variations to it as listed below. It ranges from Celeste, which is a sky blue variation of turquoise, to light turquoise and then turquoise blue, which is a bluer version of turquoise. There is also medium turquoise, dark turquoise, and bright turquoise. The origin of Duke Blue". Duke University Libraries. Archived from the original on March 19, 2008 . Retrieved December 3, 2007.Mie scattering is not strongly wavelength dependent and produces the almost white glare around the sun when a lot of particulate material is present in the air. It also gives us the the white light from mist and fog. While blue is by no means among most prevalent colors in animal world, we can still find numerous examples of blue colors named after animals. Shall we start in water?
