I don’t have the original to compare it to, nor am I prepared to pay the current asking price to get a copy. The entire analog record production process, from cutting master production to stamper production and pressing, They're a CD band if anything, they're from that generation, mixed and mastered for. You could argue that there's more dynamically going on from the second album onwards, but Definitely Maybe is an onslaught of sound. To hell with dynamics. Ask Owen Morris / watch the (excellent) doc. After 29 years of this record changing my life I finally got a copy of this on original 1994 pressing. When I was a kid I bought this on CD—later on I’d bought the anniversary box set with vinyl on it and most recently the Japanese coloured vinyl reissue. The Damont 1994 pressing is incredible. It helps that this album is so incredible, but the sound of this pressing is so clean and vivid and wonderful. The sonics are right on point and it’s kind of sad how this album has been badly pressed over the years.
