Such is the approach of the new wave of subscription-based shaving products, and Harry’s Razors is at the vanguard. Originally set up to topple giants such as Gillette with promises of a simpler, more convenient approach and lower prices for replacement blades, Harry’s Razors claim to be “shaving’s other guys”. Before I go any further, there’s something you should know about Harry’s. Despite the disruptive approach and the “shaving’s other guys” tagline, the company is no longer the anti-establishment brand it started out as. The new lubricating strip does go a bit gooey the first time you shave with it, but it’s an improvement overall, too, helping the razor glide over the skin much more smoothly. As for closeness, I stand by my original comments that it’s just as good any other five-blade razor system I’ve used. The new blades, launched on September 7th, 2020, add a slightly smoother blade edge, visible in the comparison photo below, and improve upon the lubricating strip as well. Hopefully, it will be as durable as the original blades, although I’m unable to comment on that just yet as I’ve only been shaving with the new blades for a week or so. Previously, I was able to eke out blade changes to once a month, by shaving only after showering around three to four times per week. I’ll update this review once I’ve been using the new blades for a while longer but, hopefully, the new blades will prove as durable as they are sharp.
