Description

Using your Ring doorbell as a template, mark the location of the two mounting holes on your wall. 10. Install the anchors from Bag A (optional) Your doorbell will take a few minutes to start up. Once the blue light starts spinning, you'll be able to connect the doorbell to your wireless network. Follow the in-app steps. 9. Secure your Ring doorbell You’ve now replaced your transformer and bypassed your existing doorbell. A successful bypass should look something like the image below. Now you’re ready to install your Ring Video Doorbell Pro! Using the long mounting screws, secure the Corner Mount to the wall through the slots (fig. 3). If you’re re-using existing holes, secure it with the adjacent screw holes (fig. 4). CAUTION: If you use the wrong screws to secure the Video Doorbell Wired, you could damage the doorbell during installation, create a fire hazard and be seriously injured.

Equipped with a PTC protective device which reduces the current in the input circuit when the transformer is overloaded or short-circuited and Your transformer is most likely in your fusebox or consumer unit. If not, look in other places where electrical components are installed. It may also be inside your existing doorbell. You can often get a clue to the location of the transformer by looking under the cover of your internal doorbell.Remove the existing transformer by unclipping it from the mounting rail. You may need to use a flat head screwdriver to do this. In this example. the wires on the left (0 and 3) are the wires that power the doorbell’s physical mechanism (or in electrical terms, its solenoid or coil), making it produce sound. If you look closely, you can see thin wires, running from terminals 0 and 3 to the hidden solenoid. By contrast, terminals 1 and 2 are connected directly to each other via a thin wire (meaning they aren’t providing power to your doorbell).

If your existing chime is powered directly with 230V and does not include a step down transformer to lower the voltage to 8 to 24 VAC then your system is not compatible with your Ring Video Doorbell Wired, and will need to be replaced with a Ring DIN Rail Transformer (2nd Generation) by a qualified electrician. If the transformer is not rated at 8 to 24 VAC, it is not compatible with Video Doorbell Wired and you should consult a qualified electrician. Follow the sound to find your chime and make a mental note of the location. We'll return to your existing doorbell chime soon. 2. Turn off power at the consumer unit Insert the wires you disconnected from your doorbell chime into the open ports on each connector. If either of the terminals had two wires connected, insert both into one port. Then, flip the levers down to secure. To identify this you will need to locate the transformer, which is often installed in or near to your main electrical fuse board. It may be labelled doorbell transformer and needs to be low voltage (8 to 24 VAC) to power your Ring Video Doorbell Wired.

Your existing chime needs to be bypassed because the new (included) transformer is powerful and runs on DC rather than AC current. Not bypassing will cause damage to your existing chime. If you haven’t already, mount and set up your Ring Video Doorbell according to the instructions provided with your doorbell.

How to install Enclosure for Ring DIN Rail Transformer

Connect the previously disconnected 230V high voltage line (brown) and neutral (blue) cables to terminals L & N on the bottom of the transformer.(ensure these are going into the correct input terminals).

DIN rail enclosures are primarily made from aluminium, ABS, polycarbonate, polyamide, PVC, plastic or steel. Chime units are often bigger than the DIN Rail Transformer, so when they are removed from a wall they can leave an unsightly, unpainted gap behind. If you're setting up with a Plug-In Adapter, you can choose to temporarily connect your doorbell to your home wifi network before physically installing your device. When choosing an enclosure it is essential to ensure it provides the necessary protection for your equipment. IP rating describes the enclosure's ability to protect the device inside from dust, dirt, water and moisture. Examples of IP rating include: The reference standard EN 61558-2-8 does not specify a specific time but states “Bell and chime transformers are generally intended to supply domestic sound signalling equipment and other similar devices where the load is applied for short periods of time.” For your safety, only use an existing doorbell transformer within the range specified below or compatible Ring accessories to power your device. To bypass your existing chime, unscrew the wires from your existing chime. Then twist them together using the provided wire nut.
