Detoxification
Residential detoxification is provided in our Primary Care unit and a new purpose built, ten-bedded unit within the grounds of Broadway Lodge. Our facilities are staffed by personnel skilled and experienced in the delivery of an effective, evidence based programme.
Detoxification is a process that enables the body to rid itself of the chemicals or toxins that physically impact on its healthy functioning. Without help this process can be uncomfortable and in some instances may even be life threatening. The detoxification process is supported through a gradual reduction or medical substitution of the patient's 'drug of choice' in order to ease the symptons that might otherwise be experienced. By so doing the patient can, over time, reach a point where they no longer need to continue to use alcohol or drugs in order to function physically.
In addition to undergoing the medical detoxification process, patients will have the benefit of a full programme of activities intended to help them learn more about themselves and their addiction, its impact on others and strategies for maintaining a continuing recovery.
